FAQ: Rest in Pieces: Jenga-ish Ridiculous Roommate Roleplaying
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

Is the Rest in Pieces Core Deck going to be sold separately?

No. Originally, there were plans for selling the core deck independent of the box set, but given the need of a two-color tumbling block tower to play, we just stuck with the box set. The demand didn’t appear to be high for the stand-alone deck with shipping costs, anyway.

Does the Rest in Pieces Box Set come with a Jenga tower?

Yes, it comes with 42 hardwood blocks to be used like a Jenga tower (Tumbling Block Tower). Our set has two colors! Players pull dark blocks when their characters perform selfish actions and light blocks when they perform selfless actions (let’s not get all high and mighty). A stacking sleeve is also included to help stack the pieces and keep them organized in the box set.

Is this a Role-Playing Game or a Board Game with some story elements?

Rest in Pieces is a dark comedy tabletop role-playing game. Players make deadbeat characters. They imagine and describe how their character will attempt to do things in the game/conversation/story. We play to see what happens. There isn’t a win condition.

Most of what the “board game” components do, is make for a more effective play experience. We use cards to cut down on the writing and selection of “skills, equipment, or traits” that would normally be found sifting through a book. There is a larger dry erase character card that acts as a character sheet instead of paper. The smaller cards that describe your character fit around it. We use the two-color block tower to resolve conflicts or outcomes instead of dice. It also acts as a pacing tool for driving narrative tension and controlling “episode” or game length.

That said, there is a little more strategy to Rest in Pieces as players collect blocks (influence among the roommates) when they perform actions. They can hoard their pieces to have more say over the endgame or spend them to play interrupt cards to help their deadbeats shine (at the expense of others).

How do the Expansion Decks work?

First, you swap out the Problem (Scenarios) cards of the Core Deck with the Expansion Deck. Then, you swap out the Grim Reaper/Pad card for the new Fiend Friend/Pad card. Lastly, combine and play. Each Expansion Deck has a unique border to their cards to easily tell them apart.

The Instigator Deck is a little different! You just flip that baby facedown and pull out the rules card. Think of it as a random event generator that the GM/Narrator pulls from when they want to add a little excitement to the game.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
